Ang Lee Wins Academy Award for Directing Fox’s ‘Life of Pi’
Feb. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Ang Lee, the Oscar winning director of “Brokeback Mountain,” captured his second Academy Award for the motion picture fantasy “Life of Pi.”
Lee bested competitors including Steven Spielberg, director of “Lincoln,” at the 85th Academy Awards today in Hollywood.
“Life of Pi” is based on Yann Martel’s book about a teen- ager who is stranded on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger after his ship sinks in a storm. The Oscar was the movie’s fourth so far tonight. It’s the top grossing film worldwide among the nine best picture nominees with revenue of $583.4 million.
